Hope Initiatives

This initiative assists individuals and families who have active cases with the Monroe County DHS by providing them with furniture, used appliances, and moving services at no charge. Participants must obtain a voucher from DHS and can also access affordable services for private households. The program manufactures and distributes various types of furniture, including sofas, dining tables and chairs, mattresses, dressers, steel bed frames, and cabinetry. Additionally, it offers a 'charity package' program for churches and businesses, which includes essential items such as a dining set, a dresser, a steel bed frame with a mattress, a sofa, and linens, all delivered within five days or less.

Intake Procedure: DHS clients should visit the DHS office located at 691 St Paul Street, windows #1 or #2, to obtain a voucher for Hope Initiatives. Others can call for assistance and to receive a fee estimate. Non-DHS clients need to coordinate with their sponsoring agency, which will then place the order with Hope Initiatives.
