The Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) processes applications for financial support aimed at low-income individuals, offering multiple benefit options. The Regular HEAP benefit helps with heating costs, with applications open from November 1, 2023, to April 12, 2024. The Emergency HEAP benefit is available for those facing heating emergencies and opens on January 2, 2024. The Heating Equipment Repair or Replacement (HERR) program assists homeowners in fixing or replacing furnaces. Additionally, the Heating Equipment Clean & Tune service provides inspections and cleanings prior to the heating season. Cooling Assistance, which includes vendor-installed air conditioners or fans, requires a paper application and opens on April 15, 2024, closing on July 22, 2024.

For intake procedures, Regular HEAP benefits can be applied for via paper or online during the HEAP Season. If the HEAP Season is closed, Non-Temporary Assistance SNAP recipients can call 753-2740 for heat or utility emergencies, while Temporary Assistance households should call 753-2750. Emergency HEAP benefits require applications to be made over the phone or in person, and applicants must have already received a regular HEAP benefit.
