Regular Benefits can vary from $20 to $500, influenced by factors such as income, household member ages, energy costs, and living situation. Generally, this is a one-time benefit available during the program year. Emergency Benefits are accessible for those eligible for HEAP facing energy-related crises, like power shutoffs or running low on heating fuel. Households must pass a resource assessment, and benefit amounts can differ. Additionally, Heating Equipment Repair or Replacement Benefits are offered to fix or replace essential heating systems. Cooling Assistance Benefits can be provided for purchasing and installing air conditioning units or fans for individuals with documented medical conditions worsened by heat, provided they have previously received a regular benefit exceeding $21. Clean and Tune Benefits are available to maintain the primary heating equipment, which may include chimney cleaning and minor repairs, ensuring safe and efficient operation, with costs covered up to $400.
