The initiative focuses on imparting strategic learning skills to chosen clients within the community and acts as a supervised training site for graduate student interns. These interns are working towards a Master's degree in either Literacy or Special Education, and each clinician is under the guidance of faculty professors. Clients are typically students in grades two through six who exhibit a significant gap between their potential and actual performance, making them eligible for various programs. Services include Individual Assessment, where students undergo a series of diagnostic evaluations to measure educational achievement, physical factors, and intellectual potential, followed by a comprehensive developmental history interview. Based on the assessment results, a tailored program is created for each client. Literacy (Reading) Instruction is conducted on a one-on-one basis, aiming to enhance reading, writing, spelling, and study skills, with written summary reports provided to outline outcomes and recommendations. The Special Education (Learning) program also offers one-on-one assistance to help students improve their academic tasks, with similar reporting on progress.
