Alverta B. Gray Schultz Middle School

This initiative caters to residents aged 21 and older, equipping them with essential literacy skills to secure favorable results for themselves and their children. Tailored to address the educational and employment requirements of Hempstead inhabitants, the Adult and Community Education Program features traditional literacy courses (including ESOL, GED, ABE, and Citizenship) along with various informational and support services available at multiple community locations. It also includes educational case management and counseling, both individually and in groups, to support students' needs. Referrals to other community resources, available during the day and evening, are provided as necessary. Additionally, the program offers Academic Intervention Services, which deliver quality tutoring in a safe and encouraging setting for children aged 5-14 whose parents are enrolled in the Hempstead Adult and Community Education Program. Courses are conducted at different district locations, and interested individuals should call for comprehensive information about all available courses and services.
