During the COVID pandemic, the EOC switchboard operates part-time from 7:30 AM to 1 PM, Monday through Friday, without a voicemail option. If you cannot connect with a staff member, please try again during these hours. The EOC provides advocacy and support services to low-income residents of Nassau County, facilitating access to healthcare and related services for pregnant women, mothers, and infants. It offers Career Path TANF employment services (CPTE) and a Displaced Homemakers program (DHP), along with job training workshops, job referrals, resume writing assistance, and job placement services. The agency helps clients secure necessary services, housing aid, and court advocacy, as well as making education referrals for GED, adult education, and ESOL classes. Support is also available for the elderly, undocumented residents, and families in emergency situations. Youth services provided include Head Start, enrichment activities, sports, leadership, and prevention programs.
