Childbirth Preparation Classes

This program provides classes aimed at parents who are expecting their first child or have not previously participated in childbirth education. The six weekly sessions are led by registered nurses who hold certification from the Council of Childbirth Education specialists. Key topics covered include signs of labor, the labor process, available medications, anesthesia options, care for newborns, techniques for breathing and relaxation, breastfeeding and bottle-feeding, as well as post-partum care. Additionally, a tour of the maternity unit and videos on labor and delivery are part of the curriculum. Classes are available year-round.
