The Town of Hempstead Housing Authority manages a total of 1,309 apartments situated in 14 different locations within the Town of Hempstead. The main objective of the Housing Authority has always been, and will remain, our dedication to offering safe and sanitary housing in the most effective and economical way possible. There are efficiency (EFF) apartments designated for individuals aged 62 and older, as well as 1-bedroom (1 BR) apartments intended for couples where the head of household is at least 62 years old. Additionally, applications for family apartments, which range from 2 to 4 bedrooms, are accepted at two of our complexes.

- To qualify for senior citizen housing, you must be a resident of the Town of Hempstead, at least 62 years old, and have an annual income not exceeding $66,450 for individuals or $75,950 for couples; for large family apartments, you must have at least one child or be expecting, with income limits varying by household size.
