This initiative delivers Vision Services such as Assistive Technology and Orientation and Mobility Assessment and Training for students enrolled in district programs. The Vision Assistive Technology Evaluations are designed to pinpoint assistive devices and services that enable students to engage with the general curriculum and excel academically. Technologies offered include screen reading software, speech output, scan-and-read systems, computer screen magnification, electronic note takers, and magnifying Closed-Circuit Televisions (CCTVs). Orientation and Mobility (O&M) plays a critical role in the comprehensive service delivery for children with visual impairments. Orientation involves using sensory input to determine one’s location in the environment, while mobility focuses on moving safely and efficiently within that space. The primary objective of O&M instruction is to empower visually impaired individuals to navigate various environments independently.
