The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) is a federally supported initiative designed to help eligible households manage their energy costs. If you qualify, you can receive one standard HEAP benefit each program year and may also qualify for emergency HEAP benefits if you face the risk of running out of fuel or having your utility service disconnected. The Regular HEAP benefit for the 2024-2025 period commenced on November 1, 2024. The First and Second Emergency benefits are set to begin on January 2, 2025. Additionally, the Heating Equipment Repair and Replacement benefit started on October 1, 2024, while the HEAP Clean and Tune benefit also opened on October 1, 2024. The Cooling Assistance Benefit is expected to be available starting April 15, 2025.

- Regular HEAP is available for low-income families, individuals aged 60 and older, and those with permanent disabilities who receive Food Stamps, TANF, or SSI, while Emergency HEAP is for low-income families and individuals facing emergencies related to furnace repair or replacement.
