The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) is a federally funded initiative designed to help eligible households manage their energy costs. Those who qualify may receive one standard HEAP benefit each program year and may also qualify for emergency HEAP assistance if they are at risk of depleting their fuel supply or having their utility service disconnected. For the 2024-2025 program year, the Regular HEAP benefit became available on November 1, 2024, while the First and Second Emergency benefits are set to begin on January 2, 2025. Additionally, the Heating Equipment Repair and Replacement benefit started on October 1, 2024, and the Cooling Assistance Benefit is expected to open on April 15, 2025.

There are no fees associated with this program.

- Regular HEAP: Available to low-income households, seniors aged 60 and older, and individuals with permanent disabilities who receive Food Stamps, TANF, or SSI. Emergency HEAP is for low-income families and individuals facing urgent situations.
