Regular benefits can vary from $20 to $500, influenced by factors such as income, the ages of household members, energy costs, and living situations. Generally, this is a one-time benefit granted during the program year. Emergency benefits are available for individuals eligible for HEAP who face energy-related crises, such as power shutoffs or insufficient fuel supplies. Households must pass a resource assessment to qualify. Additionally, Heating Equipment Repair or Replacement Benefits can be accessed to fix or replace essential heating systems. Cooling Assistance Benefits are offered for purchasing and installing air conditioning units or fans for those with medical conditions worsened by heat, provided they have received a regular benefit exceeding $21. Clean and Tune Benefits cover the cleaning of primary heating systems and may include chimney cleaning and minor repairs, with costs covered up to a maximum of $400.
