This initiative provides emergency, temporary accommodation for homeless families in a communal setting, located in Brentwood, Central Islip, and Huntington Station. The staff helps residents transition to permanent housing and offers various services, including entitlement advocacy, life skills training, and referrals to educational or vocational programs, as well as mental health and substance abuse resources. It is associated with Transitional Services of New York for Long Island, Inc.
Intake Process: Referrals must come from Suffolk County DSS. For Nassau County, contact (516)227-8519 or the evening/emergency line at (516)573-8626. For Suffolk County, call (631)854-9517 or the evening/emergency line at (631)854-9100. If you do not qualify for DSS services, reach out to the Long Island Coalition for the Homeless at (631)464-4314.
Costs: The shelter operates on a per diem rate set by SCDSS.

- To qualify, applicants must be over 18, homeless with at least one adult and one child, or couples without children, and must be referred by Suffolk County DSS.
