This initiative provides emergency housing via the Supervised Family Residence (SFR), which can accommodate up to nine families under the oversight of a case manager. Families are encouraged to support one another, fostering a positive and homelike environment. Additionally, CHI offers emergency housing for single adults in a Supervised Singles Residence (SSR), which is licensed by New York State and employs a congregate model with comprehensive case management, including supervision from a psychiatric nurse practitioner. In collaboration with Suffolk County DSS, CHI also runs a service center in Patchogue for homeless single adults, where clients can receive assistance with benefit applications, mental and physical health issues, education, and job placement.
