Islip Career Center

This program caters to students with disabilities from the associated school districts, providing a self-contained educational setting with necessary modifications as specified by the Committees on Special Education (such as 12-1-1 and 8-1-1). The Gary D. Bixhorn Technical Center, Islip Career Center, and Harry B. Ward Technical Center support high school students aged 15.5 (15 years and 6 months) by September 1st until they reach 21. Special Career Education (SCE) aims to equip all students with the technical and academic competencies essential for future employment and successful transitions to college or other post-secondary options. SCE offers hands-on training to help students prepare for rewarding careers, ensuring they acquire the necessary skills for success in the workforce or further education. Each student is motivated to investigate diverse fields of study and cultivate vital skills to thrive in today's competitive job market, while also learning to manage their disabilities in professional settings.
