James Hines Adminstration Center

This initiative caters to students with disabilities from the associated school districts, offering a specialized learning environment with adjustments as recommended by the Committees on Special Education (such as 12-1-1 and 8-1-1). The Gary D. Bixhorn Technical Center, Islip Career Center, and Harry B. Ward Technical Center accommodate high school students aged 15.5 (15 years and 6 months) by September 1st until they reach 21 years old. Special Career Education (SCE) aims to equip all students with the necessary technical and academic skills to succeed in future jobs or pursue higher education. Through structured training, students gain essential tools for success in the workforce or further studies. Each student is motivated to investigate different fields of study and acquire vital skills to confidently enter the competitive job market, while also learning to manage their disabilities in professional settings.
