H.B. Ward Technical And Academic Center

This initiative caters to students with disabilities from various school districts, providing a dedicated learning space with tailored modifications as specified by the Committees on Special Education (e.g., 12-1-1 and 8-1-1). The Gary D. Bixhorn Technical Center, Islip Career Center, and Harry B. Ward Technical Center accommodate high school students aged 15.5 and older until they reach 21. The Special Career Education (SCE) program aims to equip all students with the necessary technical and academic skills for future employment and successful transitions to college or other post-secondary options. Through structured training, students gain essential tools for success in the workforce and/or further education. They are encouraged to explore different fields of study and develop the skills needed to thrive in today's competitive job market while learning to manage their disabilities in professional settings.
