Town residents receive assistance and advocacy when applying for financial aid from county, state, and federal programs, including TANF (Temporary Assistance to Needy Families), HEAP (Home Energy Assistance Program), and Social Security Disability. Individuals facing emergencies, such as food insecurity, utility shut-offs, or eviction risks, are also supported. A community advocate conducts interviews to help identify eligible programs and prepare necessary application materials. Department Advocates specifically handle REGULAR HEAP applications, which avoids the need for clients to visit the county office for these benefits.
