Brennan Middle School

This initiative supports disabled adolescents between the ages of eleven and fourteen, providing a nurturing educational atmosphere that aligns with the Common Core Learning Standards while addressing various social and psychological needs of the students. In addition to fundamental academic instruction, many participants benefit from services provided by a consulting psychiatrist, either from the Office of Mental Health or BOCES, and engage in a variety of extracurricular activities. A collaborative team consisting of the classroom teacher, paraprofessional(s), psychologist, and social worker is assigned to each classroom unit. Family outreach services are also a crucial component of the Middle School Program. Additionally, the PASS program at Brennan Middle/High School serves both disabled and non-disabled middle and high school students, offering a highly structured environment that addresses instructional and behavioral challenges in small group settings for high school students. This educational setting mirrors that of Brennan High School, and while students may not necessarily be classified as special education, they all require alternative educational approaches. Students facing issues such as truancy, non-compliance with school rules, or disruptive behavior are suitable candidates for the PASS program, as well as those at risk due to poor academic performance, who will receive extensive support services to promote their success.
