The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) is a federally funded initiative designed to help eligible households address their energy requirements. If you qualify, you can receive one regular HEAP benefit each program year and may also qualify for emergency HEAP benefits if you risk running out of fuel or having your utility service disconnected. The 2024-2025 Regular HEAP benefit started on November 1, 2024, while the First and Second Emergency benefits are set to begin on January 2, 2025. Additionally, the Heating Equipment Repair and Replacement benefit commenced on October 1, 2024, and the HEAP Clean and Tune benefit also opened on October 1, 2024. The Cooling Assistance Benefit is expected to start on April 15, 2025.

- Regular HEAP is available to low-income families, individuals aged 60 and older, and those with permanent disabilities who receive Food Stamps, TANF, or SSI, while Emergency HEAP is for low-income families and individuals facing an emergency.
