Life classes aim to equip special needs students for employment by implementing a three-phase strategy for transitioning from school to work. Phase I - Exploratory Rotation: This initial phase introduces students to multiple career paths through rotations in four vocational programs: Auto Detailing, Building Maintenance, Floral & Greenhouse Services, and Food Service Preparation. Phase II - Full Year Classes: Here, students focus on developing skills in a specific career and technical education program, with options including Auto Mechanics, Childcare Aide, Construction and Building Maintenance, Floral & Greenhouse, Food Service Preparation, Landscaping, Office and Business, Retail Services, and Small Engine Repair. Phase III - Community Placement: In this final phase, students engage in supervised work within the community for four days a week, while dedicating one day to classroom instruction that covers worksite behaviors, job-specific skills, time management, appropriate attire, personal hygiene, self-advocacy, problem-solving, and safety awareness.
