Options counselors assist individuals in making well-informed decisions about long-term care. They evaluate individual strengths, needs, preferences, and unique situations. Counselors provide details on support strategies, action plans, and methods based on community options. Options Counseling can serve as an independent service for participants or lead to Older Americans Act Case Management (OAA), which offers ongoing support for those needing help to maintain independence. Care coordinators play a role in problem-solving, advocacy, and linking participants to resources and community support to improve quality of life and plan for the future.
