Options counselors guide individuals in making well-informed choices about long-term care by evaluating their strengths, needs, preferences, and specific circumstances. They offer insights into support strategies, action plans, and available community options. Options Counseling can serve as an independent service for participants or may lead to Older Americans Act Case Management (OAA), which supports individuals needing ongoing assistance to maintain independence. Care coordinators play a role in problem-solving, advocacy, and linking participants to resources and community support, ultimately enhancing their quality of life and future planning.

- Eligibility for Options Counseling includes individuals aged 60 and older, adults with disabilities, veterans, and their family members or caregivers, while OAA is available for those aged 60 and above.
