Vital Records - Nys Department Of Health

This service provides access to pre-adoption birth certificates, standard birth certificates, death certificates, divorce certificates, an adoption information registry, fetal death and stillbirth certificates, along with genealogy records and resources. Birth records are available for all of New York State since 1881, excluding New York City, which comprises the boroughs of Manhattan, Kings (Brooklyn), Queens, Bronx, and Richmond (Staten Island). For records predating 1914 in Albany, Buffalo, and Yonkers, or before 1880 in other cities, requests should be directed to the local Registrar of Vital Statistics where the event took place.
