In Utah, birth parents have the option to anonymously surrender custody of their newborn without any legal ramifications. Hospitals that operate 24 hours are recognized as "Safe Havens" where newborns can be securely left. The Department of Child and Family Services (DCFS) subsequently arranges for the child to be placed for immediate adoption.
