Under Utah legislation, birth parents have the option to relinquish custody of their newborn anonymously without incurring any legal repercussions. Any hospital in Utah that operates 24 hours is recognized as a Safe Haven, where newborns can be safely left. The Department of Child and Family Services (DCFS) subsequently facilitates the immediate adoption of the child.
