In Utah, birth parents have the option to anonymously relinquish custody of their newborn without any legal repercussions. Any hospital in Utah that operates 24 hours is recognized as a Safe Haven, where newborns can be safely left. The Department of Child and Family Services (DCFS) subsequently arranges for the child to be placed for immediate adoption.
