The rent payment program is a component of the Emergency Assistance Homeless Prevention Program (EA) that offers urgent short-term support to families in financial distress to address or avert homelessness caused by eviction.

- To qualify, families must be at risk of eviction due to overdue payments stemming from an uncontrollable crisis. They must have a dependent child or a woman in her third trimester of pregnancy in the household and show the capacity to make future payments. Additionally, the household must satisfy income and asset criteria and have exhausted all other options.
