In Utah, birth parents are permitted to anonymously surrender custody of their newborn without incurring any legal penalties. Designated hospitals that operate 24/7 serve as Safe Havens where newborns can be safely left. The Department of Child and Family Services (DCFS) subsequently arranges for the child's immediate adoption.
