Under Utah law, birth parents can anonymously surrender custody of their newborn without incurring any legal penalties. Any hospital in Utah that operates 24/7 is recognized as a Safe Haven where newborns can be safely left. The Department of Child and Family Services (DCFS) subsequently arranges for the immediate adoption of the child.
