This program provides monthly financial assistance to individuals who have a work history or are unable to work due to a disability. Payments can commence after the sixth full month of the disability. Additionally, those receiving SSDI might qualify for Medicare benefits.
Application Process: To apply, individuals should contact a local Social Security office for an appointment or submit an application online. The Social Security Administration may expedite applications for individuals with certain rare diseases and cancer.
