Catholic Community Services' Volunteer Services
Community Resource
Acerca de este recurso
Volunteers offer assistance with light housekeeping, meal preparation, laundry, yard work, and transportation for low-income seniors and individuals with disabilities. It is recommended to request transportation services 7-10 days in advance, while other services may require a longer wait, depending on volunteer availability.
Intake Procedure: Eligibility screening and intake are managed through the main intake line. For transportation needs, it is essential to call at least 7-10 days prior to the desired service date. The time required to place a volunteer can vary significantly based on volunteer availability, location, and the specific type of chore requested. Typically, volunteers provide assistance once a week or twice a month for a few hours each session. The program strives to match the appropriate volunteer to each request to fulfill needs within the program's framework. Advance arrangements for interpretation can be made.
Fees: There are no charges for the services.

- The program serves low-income seniors aged 60 and above, as well as low-income adults with disabilities aged 18 and older, with all household members needing to meet the eligibility criteria. While there are no strict financial requirements, the Federal Poverty Level serves as a guideline for determining eligibility. It acts as a safety net for those who do not qualify for DSHS chore services (COPES) and cannot afford private services. External factors like medical expenses are considered in the eligibility assessment. DSHS approval or Medicaid is not mandatory, and services are subject to volunteer availability, often resulting in a lengthy waitlist without guaranteed quick placement.
