Intake Process: Most medical and surgical services at UWMC have a patient care coordinator who collaborates with the patient and physician to organize admission. The physician will facilitate the admission to UWMC unless the patient is admitted via the Emergency Department or transferred from another facility.

Costs: UW Physicians and UWMC are involved with most HMO organizations, preferred provider organization plans, and various commercial health plans. They accept Medicare and Washington Apple Health (Medicaid).
