The Environmental Health Program's goal is to safeguard the health of Idaho residents by reducing or preventing exposure to environmental pollutants and hazards through collaboration, outreach, education, community engagement, and research. *Environmental Health Education and Assessment Program: This initiative focuses on evaluating health risks linked to toxic substances in Idaho's environment and educating residents about these risks and preventive measures. Current efforts include health assessments and educational outreach at hazardous waste and Superfund sites, addressing airborne chemicals, drinking water safety, and the health effects of smoke from wildfires and agricultural burning. *Indoor Environment Program: This initiative educates Idahoans about health risks from indoor pollutants such as radon and lead-based paint, along with strategies to mitigate exposure. *The Idaho Fish Consumption Advisory Program (IFCAP) alerts residents about potential water contamination affecting fish and human health. By analyzing contaminant levels in fish, IFCAP provides guidance on safe consumption levels. Languages: English. Interpreter services are available.
