Troop And Counseling Services For National Guard And Reserves

Free confidential non-medical counseling sessions are provided to active-duty service members, National Guard and reserve members (regardless of their activation status), and their families via Military OneSource. Additionally, the Military and Family Life Counselor Program offers similar support for active-duty personnel and their families. National Guard and reserve members and their families can access MFLC assistance 90 days prior to and 180 days following a minimum 180-day active duty period. Department of Defense civilian personnel classified as Civilian Expeditionary Workforce members and their families are also entitled to Military OneSource and MFLC counseling. Military children aged 12 and under may participate in Military OneSource counseling if accompanied by a parent or guardian, but cannot attend alone. Youth aged 13 to 17 can receive individual, in-person counseling through Military OneSource, provided a parent is present for the initial session. Online and telephone counseling services are not offered for children and youth. Minors under 18 can receive counseling from a child and youth behavioral MFLC with parental consent, and all MFLC sessions with children occur within the view of another adult.
