The Public Health Preparedness and Communication Systems office (Bioterrorism Planning) collaborates with the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare, other public health districts, healthcare providers, and emergency responders to develop a unified statewide strategy for readiness and response to bioterrorism and other public health crises. ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH: Environmental Health programs address the intersection of human health with the physical environment and the ecosystem. **Environmental Health Programs encompass: Day Care; Epidemiology (Animal Bites, Food and Water Borne Illness); Food Establishments (Permits, Plan Reviews, Inspections); Indoor Air Quality (Radon); Lead Health Program; Methamphetamine Labs; Public Pools; Solid Waste.** Land Development programs include: Mortgage Surveys; Non-Domestic Waste Water; Public Water Systems; Subdivision Review; Subsurface Sewage (Site Evaluations, Plan Reviews, Permits, Inspections). FAMILY PLANNING: Offers Family Planning services that include education, counseling, pregnancy testing, comprehensive physical exams (including cancer and sexually transmitted disease screenings), and referrals. Various birth control methods are available. Educational materials can be requested. IMMUNIZATIONS: Local health districts provide routine vaccinations for children through clinics at the health district or occasionally at special off-site locations. These vaccinations are often low-cost or free for parents who cannot afford them. Overseas immunizations are available by appointment, and travelers should contact the local health district for specific vaccine requirements. Adult vaccines, such as Td boosters, hepatitis B, hepatitis A, pneumonia, and influenza vaccines, may also be offered.
