Acerca de este recurso

The Medical Reserve Corps can be reached at 208-239-5208, and the Swine Flu Hotline for Region 6 is available at 208-234-5888. Idaho consists of seven health districts that work closely with the Department of Health and Welfare along with other local and state entities. Each district has its own board of health appointed by county commissioners and operates independently from state agencies. They address local requirements by offering diverse services that can differ from one district to another, including community health nursing, environmental health, dental hygiene, and nutrition programs, often through contracts with the Department of Health and Welfare. For the most current information on available services in your area, contact the nearest District Health Department. The Public Health Preparedness and Communication Systems office collaborates with the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare, other public health districts, healthcare providers, and emergency responders to create a unified statewide strategy for preparing for and responding to bioterrorism and public health crises. Environmental Health programs focus on the intersection of human health with the physical environment and local ecosystems, covering areas such as daycare, epidemiology (animal bites, food and waterborne illnesses), food establishments (permits, inspections), indoor air quality (radon), lead health programs, methamphetamine labs, public pools, and solid waste management. Land Development initiatives include regulations for critical materials, mortgage surveys, non-domestic wastewater, public water systems, Rathdrum Aquifer protection, shallow injection well inventory, subdivision review, and subsurface sewage evaluations and permits. Family Planning services offer education, counseling, pregnancy testing, comprehensive physical exams (including cancer and STD screenings), and referrals, with a variety of birth control methods available. Educational resources and speakers are also provided for community events upon request. Local health departments administer routine childhood vaccinations through clinics at their facilities or special off-site events, often at low or no cost for families in need. Overseas immunizations are available by appointment, and travelers should contact their local health department for specific vaccine requirements. Adult vaccines, including Td boosters, hepatitis B, hepatitis A, pneumonia, and influenza, may also be offered. The Immunization Registry is a free and confidential service that helps families and doctors track immunizations. The WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) Program provides supplemental nutrition support, including healthy food vouchers, health screenings, nutrition classes, and referrals to healthcare providers for pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, infants, and children under five. The Women’s Health Check program offers free breast and cervical cancer screenings for eligible women without insurance that covers these tests, based on specific age and income criteria. Language assistance is available. For general inquiries, locations, and appointments, please call.
