Acerca de este recurso

The Medical Reserve Corps can be reached at 208-415-5180, and the Swine Flu Hotline is available at 208-415-5299. Idaho consists of seven health districts that work closely with the Department of Health and Welfare and other local and state entities. Each district has its own board of health appointed by county commissioners and operates independently of state agencies. They cater to local requirements by offering a diverse range of services, which may differ from one district to another. These services include community health nursing, home health nursing, environmental health, dental hygiene, and nutrition programs, many of which are provided through contracts with the Department of Health and Welfare. For the most current information regarding available services in your area, please contact your local District Health Department. The Public Health Preparedness and Communication Systems office collaborates with the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare, public health districts, healthcare providers, and emergency responders to develop a unified statewide strategy for addressing bioterrorism threats and other public health crises. Environmental Health initiatives focus on the intersection of human health with the physical environment and the ecosystem. Key Environmental Health Programs encompass areas such as Day Care, Epidemiology (Animal Bites, Food and Waterborne Illness), Food Establishments (Permits, Plan Reviews, Inspections), Indoor Air Quality (Radon), Lead Health Program, Methamphetamine Labs, Public Pools, and Solid Waste management. Land Development programs cover Critical Materials Regulation, Mortgage Surveys, Non-Domestic Waste Water, Public Water Systems, Rathdrum Aquifer Protection, Shallow Injection Well Inventory, Subdivision Review, and Subsurface Sewage (Site Evaluations, Permits, Inspections). The Family Planning services offered include education, counseling, pregnancy testing, comprehensive physical exams (which include cancer screenings, STD screenings, and HIV testing), and referrals. A wide range of birth control methods is available, along with educational resources and speakers for community outreach upon request. Local health departments also provide routine childhood immunizations through clinics at the health department or special off-site events, often at low or no cost for parents in need. Overseas immunizations are available by appointment, and travelers are advised to contact their local health department for specific vaccine requirements for their destinations. Adult vaccines such as Td boosters, hepatitis B, hepatitis A, pneumonia, and influenza may also be offered. The Immunization Registry is a free, voluntary, and confidential service that keeps track of immunizations for you and your family, ensuring you receive only the necessary vaccines when needed. The WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) program provides monthly healthy food vouchers, health screenings, nutrition classes, community program information, referrals to healthcare providers, individual counseling with registered dietitians, breastfeeding support, and educational materials. WIC serves pregnant women, breastfeeding women (up to one year postpartum), infants under one year, and children under five. The Women’s Health Check program, funded federally, offers free breast and cervical cancer screenings for eligible women who lack health insurance for these services, meet income requirements, and fall within specific age categories or have symptoms indicative of breast cancer. Language assistance is available upon request. For general inquiries, locations, and appointments, please call.
