The Ombudsman Program focuses on educating, empowering, and advocating for residents in long-term care settings. It acts as a crucial resource for older adults and those with disabilities residing in nursing homes, assisted living, and other licensed adult care facilities. The program addresses residents' concerns by investigating and resolving complaints made by or on behalf of them; fostering the establishment of resident and family councils; and raising awareness among government agencies, service providers, and the public regarding issues affecting long-term care residents.
