Compeer Of Livingston County

The program facilitates the pairing of adult volunteers with adults who are receiving mental health treatment, creating supportive one-on-one friendships. Prior to matching, volunteers receive individual training, and ongoing training is available after matches are established. The Volunteer Coordinator provides continuous support both before and after the matching process. Activities between volunteers and clients include friendly visits, social outings, cultural experiences, and special events. Additionally, the program offers Compeer Calling/E-Buddies, which provides telephone or email support to clients who are waiting to be matched with volunteers. Volunteer opportunities are also available.

Intake Procedure: Clients are referred through a mental health provider, while volunteers can call for more information.

Fees: Services are provided at no cost.
