Family Support and Home and Community Based Services cater to individuals with developmental disabilities, with Family Support Coordinators guiding families to identify the most suitable services for their circumstances. The Home and Community Based Services Waiver offers financial assistance for community habilitation, day habilitation, and hourly respite care. Each participant is paired with a provider to enhance their independence and engagement within the community. Additionally, a sliding fee scale is available for respite services, offering caregivers a much-needed break. Families have the option to select their own workers or can receive a list of qualified service providers. Self-direction services are also provided in Tioga, Tompkins, Cortland, and certain areas of Broome, Cayuga, Chemung, Onondaga, Schuyler, and Seneca Counties. Intake involves a referral process for the HCBS waiver program and Self-Direction services, with applications for respite submitted through program staff.
