The Safe Haven law permits birth parents to surrender their newborns anonymously without incurring any legal penalties. In Utah, any hospital that operates 24 hours is recognized as a Safe Haven where newborns can be safely left. The Department of Child and Family Services (DCFS) subsequently arranges for the child's immediate adoption.
