This initiative supports low-income individuals and families in realizing their dream of home ownership. New homes are constructed with the help of community contributions and volunteer labor, and these homes are sold to families that have been thoroughly vetted. Additionally, down payment assistance is available for veteran applicants.
Intake Procedure: Interested individuals should call or visit the website for the latest application details. Applicants are required to attend a homeowner orientation, fill out an application, and undergo an interview process. After a family has applied and been approved by Habitat for Humanity, it typically takes between 3-6 months for rehabilitation of homes and 12-18 months for the construction of new homes.
Fees: Participants are responsible for making monthly mortgage payments, which are calculated to be 30% of their gross income.
