New homes are constructed with the help of community contributions and volunteer labor, and these homes are sold to families that have been thoroughly vetted. Additionally, down payment assistance is available for veteran applicants.
Intake Procedure: Interested individuals should call or visit the website for the latest application details. Applicants are required to attend a homeowner orientation, fill out an application, and undergo an interview process. After a family has applied and been approved by Habitat for Humanity, it typically takes between 3-6 months for rehabilitation of homes and 12-18 months for the construction of new homes.
Fees: Participants are responsible for making monthly mortgage payments, which are calculated to be 30% of their gross income.
Who can use this
- Eligible applicants include individuals or families with a housing need and an annual income ranging from 30-60% of the Area Median Income; veterans must have an income between 30-80% of this median, and total debt should not exceed 43% of gross income.
