Child And Adult Care Food Program
Community Resource
About this resource
The Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) is a federally funded initiative overseen by the USDA and managed in Idaho by the Idaho Department of Education. Childcare facilities, adult centers, and family day care homes that wish to join the CACFP can reach out to the state or affiliated sponsoring organizations for participation. The main objective of this program is to ensure that nutritious meals are available for children in childcare settings, after-school programs, homeless shelters, family daycare homes, and adults in daycare facilities. To be eligible, participants must hold a license, complete training, submit an agreement and application, and consent to on-site evaluations by the state agency or its sponsors. Providers are required to prepare and serve meals that align with CACFP meal pattern standards, maintain records of food served, meal counts, and attendance, and participate in annual training. In exchange, children and adults in care receive healthy meals, while providers benefit from reimbursement funds for meal expenses and nutrition education. Available languages include English and Spanish. Intake procedures can be obtained by contacting the relevant office.
