Fraud Investigations - Region 4

The Welfare Fraud Investigation Unit is responsible for investigating all clients and non-Medicaid providers receiving public assistance funds, whether as clients or service providers. These investigations usually begin with complaints from the public or program employees and may result in identifying overpayments, intentional program violations, or even legal action. To report suspected fraud, you can choose from several options: Online by visiting the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare's website and going to the 'Report Fraud' section; by phone at the Public Assistance Fraud Hotline at 866-935-7515, with calls answered by the 2-1-1 Idaho CareLine from Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. (Mountain Time), and directed to voicemail after hours; or via email at Questions@dhw.idaho.gov.
