Head Start (Boise) Oak Park Village Center

Head Start is a nationwide preschool initiative aimed at children from income-eligible families, operated by local nonprofit organizations across the country. Applications are accepted for children aged 4 to 5 years. Families must have incomes below poverty guidelines, although a limited number of over-income children with special needs may also be admitted. The program addresses various needs including medical, dental, educational, and social services, all provided at no cost. Required documentation includes proof of income, the child's birth date, and immunization records. Head Start offers a range of supportive services, such as social services, parent involvement, nutrition, mental health, health education, disability assistance, and dental care, along with transportation. The program aims to enhance the lives of children, families, staff, and the community by providing quality education and family-centered services. It operates a five-day-a-week program for 12 hours, providing four meals daily to children, and encourages parental involvement through volunteering and positive parenting classes.
