Idaho Legislative Services Office

The Legislative Services Office was established by the Legislature in 1993 to unify the nonpartisan staff support for Idaho's citizen legislators. To enhance service coordination, a Director of Legislative Services was appointed to manage three previously independent offices. The office's responsibilities encompass: Budget and Policy Analysis, which aids legislators in the state budget process and offers policy guidance to individual legislators and legislative committees; Information Technology, which oversees the Legislature's extensive computer network linking all legislative and staff offices and supports various legislative technology projects; Legislative Audits, which perform financial post-audits of state agencies to ensure proper fund utilization and adherence to government accounting standards; and Research and Legislation, which conducts research for legislators, drafts legislative proposals, staffs legislative study committees, reviews administrative agency rules, and provides information regarding the legislative process and history to the public and other state agencies.
