Idaho Office For Refugees

The Idaho Office for Refugees (IOR) fosters understanding between refugees and the broader community by disseminating information, promoting social interactions, and creating opportunities for refugees to engage in various community activities. The IOR is tasked with statewide responsibilities for refugee assistance and services, operating as a private sector initiative that replaces the previous state-run program. In collaboration with the federal Office of Refugee Resettlement, the IOR helps ease the challenging transition refugees face as they adapt to life in the U.S. The mission of the IOR is guided by the commitment to provide refuge to those fleeing persecution due to their beliefs, opinions, or ethnic backgrounds. After resettlement, the IOR offers support services aimed at helping these newcomers become active and productive members of society. This includes interim financial assistance, English language training, employment services, immigration support, language assistance, and case management and social adjustment services.
