Television ranks just behind parents as the most significant educator for young children, with a unique capacity to shape their learning, thinking, and behavior. Due to this influence, it is crucial for adults to assist children in becoming discerning viewers. Research indicates that when children engage in selective viewing, television can greatly enhance their readiness for school. Idaho Public Television's Ready To Learn initiative offers over 56 hours of high-quality educational content weekly, along with extensive outreach efforts in local communities. These outreach programs include complimentary workshops for parents, childcare providers, and early childhood professionals, as well as the distribution of children's literature and the PBS Families/para la Familia magazine. The Ready To Learn program is supported by a cooperative agreement from the U.S. Department of Education via the Public Broadcasting Service.
